1,300 HP Nissan Altima Shows 1,000 Dodge Charger How It’s Done

The Nissan Altima is a dependable family car, but it certainly doesn’t get your heart racing. However, this Altima is an entirely different beast.

This Altima is owned by Formula Drift champion Chris Forsberg and is powered by the 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 you’ll ordinarily find in a Nissan GT-R. A plethora of modifications have been made to this mill, so much so that it can be tuned to churn out no less than 2,000 hp (although it was running 1,300 hp here). In this video of the car from Hoonigan, we discover that it is no one-trick pony that can only go sideways around corners.

Throughout this clip, we learn about what has gone into making this Altima and are also presented with a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat that has also benefited from a host of modifications and aims to show the Altima just how quick it can be in a straight line.

The most obvious modification made to the Dodge is the removal of the standard supercharger and the fitment of two turbochargers that allows it to pump out an impressive 1,050 hp. However, whereas the custom-built Nissan that includes a bespoke tubular chassis weighs just 3,170 lbs (1,438 kg), the Dodge is much heavier and weighs roughly 4,600 lbs (2,087 kg).

As such, it is little surprise that in both of the drag races from a standing-start, the Nissan is able to sprint off the line much more effectively than the Dodge and claims a pair of easy wins. To give the Dodge a shot, the final race saw the duo compete in a rolling race from 60 mph (96 km/h). This race was much closer.

Ryan Tuerck Is Building A Toyota Supra Drift Car With A Formula 1-Derived V10

Professional drifter Ryan Tuerck is embarking on an ambitious project to create an A90 Toyota Supra drift car powered by a Judd Formula 1-derived V10 engine.

Tuerck has made quite a number of headlines in recent years thanks to his one-off Ferrari 458-powered Toyota 86 drifter, and in a recent YouTube video, announced his new project, adding that he has been wanting to make a drift car like this for a decade. The entire build will be detailed in a 14-part YouTube series that will kick off on October 18.

Judd has a wealth of experience building racing engines and the one Tuerck has got his hands on is a GV4 V10. This engine is naturally aspirated, displaces 4.0 liters and, while it was derived from the engines that Judd used in Formula 1, it was actually used in a handful of vehicles competing in the Sports Racing World Cup, such as the Rafanelli Riley & Scott LMP1 car that competed at the American Le Mans series in 1999.

The V10 pumps out 750 hp and revs to 11,000 rpm. It remains unclear how the drifter managed to source this engine nor what kind of transmission it will be coupled to, but there’s no doubt the finished product will be one of the maddest 2020 Supras in existence.

Ken Block Shows His 13 Year-Old Daughter How To Slide A 355 HP Ford Escort

Being the daughter of Ken Block has its perks and as this video reveals, that includes having the opportunity to drive some pretty epic cars while receiving tutelage from the rally driver himself.

While many of us remain in lockdown, Block recently made the trip to Utah with his 13-year-old daughter Lia and had some fun at a drift pad at the Utah Motorsports Campus.

Lia has a little bit of racing experience under her belt and was handed the keys to Block’s custom-built Ford Escort Gymkhana car which we’re sure isn’t particularly easy to drive, let alone drive sideways. But first, Block gave his daughter some instructions from the driver’s seat about how to kick out the tail of the car and maintain a slide.

For the first portion of the video, Block teaches his daughter the art of slamming on the brakes of the Ford, pressing in the clutch, accelerating, and then dumping the clutch to initiate a slide. In the second half, it’s time to start using the handbrake or as we like to call it, the ‘fun handle.’

Block first started rallying in this very Ford Escort back in 2008 but since then it has been transformed into a rear-wheel drive Gymkhana car. Power is provided by a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine that produces 355 hp and revs to a dizzying 9,000 rpm.
