Ford Crown Vic With Gargantuan Twin-Turbo 27-Liter Rolls-Royce V12 Starts Up

<!––>

<!––>

A few months ago, we stumbled across a Ford Crown Victoria in Sweden that had been fitted with a massive 27-liter V12. Fast forward to June and this insane engine up has been fired up for the first time while nestled into the Ford’s engine bay.

The engine in question was built by Rolls-Royce and formerly used in a World War II-era tank; in its hey-day, it delivered roughly 550 hp. That’s a lot of power for a Ford Crown Victoria but isn’t that much when you consider just how massive the V12 is. As such, those behind the project have equipped it with a pair of turbochargers and a custom ECU so it ultimately delivers closer to 2,500 hp.

During this video, the car is rolled out from the barn where it is being built before the engine is fired up. It takes a couple of tries to fine-tune the air and fuel ratio before the engine starts for the first time. A thermal imaging camera is then used to ensure that all 12 cylinders are working. The video notes that the pressure pipes to the turbochargers were not connected during these initial tests.

As you can imagine, fitting a 27-liter V12 into a Crown Vic was no small feat. In fact, the car actually has the front end of a Chevrolet C10 pickup truck and the rear of the engine extends into the cabin.

Mad Scot Is Putting A Connaught V10 Into An NB Miata

Although engine swapsare anything but shocking these days, there are still a few combinations that have the power to surprise. Take, for instance, this Mazda MX-5 with a V10 swap.

The build was thought up by Drivetribe’s Mike Fernie, who has been covering the Connaught V10 for some time now. You may, therefore, be familiar with the engine but if you aren’t here’s a refresher.

Back in the early aughts, Connaught tried to make it as a small-scale startup, in much the same way as TVR. Based in Wales, the company planned to produce a two-seater sports car with a bespoke engine of its own design.

The engine it came up with was a supercharged narrow-angle V10. The company claimed an output of 300 bhp and 274 lb-ft of torque, which is a healthy amount more than the engine coming out of this 1998 MX-5 that made just 140 hp.

But, with six more cylinders, you’d expect it to be more powerful. Just how a V10 is supposed to fit where an inline-four did is, perhaps, the more interesting question. Helped by the 22.5-degree angle of the cylinder block, the real trick for this engine swap is that the Connaught V10 displaces just 2.0 liters or 0.2 liters more than the engine coming out. Its dimensions mean that the block does actually fit in the car’s engine bay, though how much massaging it will require once all of the accessories are attached is another question.

And one that might be answered in another video, unfortunately, as this video ends with the old drivetrain coming out and the new engine block perching in the MX-5′s engine bay to see how it fits. Fernie says that once the car’s body is cleaned up a little, it will be sent to Connaught along with the engine to have it installed. I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty excited to see what comes of the company’s efforts.

Ryan Tuerck Is Building A Toyota Supra Drift Car With A Formula 1-Derived V10

Professional drifter Ryan Tuerck is embarking on an ambitious project to create an A90 Toyota Supra drift car powered by a Judd Formula 1-derived V10 engine.

Tuerck has made quite a number of headlines in recent years thanks to his one-off Ferrari 458-powered Toyota 86 drifter, and in a recent YouTube video, announced his new project, adding that he has been wanting to make a drift car like this for a decade. The entire build will be detailed in a 14-part YouTube series that will kick off on October 18.

Judd has a wealth of experience building racing engines and the one Tuerck has got his hands on is a GV4 V10. This engine is naturally aspirated, displaces 4.0 liters and, while it was derived from the engines that Judd used in Formula 1, it was actually used in a handful of vehicles competing in the Sports Racing World Cup, such as the Rafanelli Riley & Scott LMP1 car that competed at the American Le Mans series in 1999.

The V10 pumps out 750 hp and revs to 11,000 rpm. It remains unclear how the drifter managed to source this engine nor what kind of transmission it will be coupled to, but there’s no doubt the finished product will be one of the maddest 2020 Supras in existence.

This Slammed Down Chevrolet C10 Restomod Has A Big-Block V8

<!––>

<!––>

A 1967 Chevrolet C10 restomod is being auctioned off by Barrett-Jackson at its fall auction running from October 22-24.

The C10 is one of the country’s most iconic and recognizable pickups and this particular example has been comprehensively modified.

Slotted under the hood is a custom 408 cubic-inch (6.7-liter) big-block V8 with fuel injection. No horsepower and torque figures have been provided, but we know the engine is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission sending power to the rear wheels. Taking into account the lack of traction control and the very little mass over the rear axle, we’re sure this custom Chevy loves spinning up its rear tires and getting sideways if you floor the right pedal.

Not only does the truck feature a new powertrain, but the interior has been refreshed and restored with black and white leather. The cabin also houses a JBL sound system, while the bed now features a bespoke tonneau cover. Once removed, the cover reveals a carpeted bed with speakers, struts and leather accents.

According to the listing, the truck’s chassis has been custom built and there are new torsion sway bars front and rear, a rack & pinion steering and a sectioned hood with custom braces. Other modifications include smoothed doors with remote-operated latches, wing mirrors from a 1966 Chevelle, and an air ride suspension.

LS V8-Swapped Lamborghini Huracan Is A Twin-Turbo Beast

<!––>

<!––>

One of the most desirable features of a Lamborghini Huracan is its screaming, naturally-aspirated V10 engine. This one, though, is different.

Created by YouTube channel B is for Build, this Huracan is rocking an LS V8 engine – and not just any old LS, but a custom-built one that is sporting a pair of turbochargers. It was presented at SEMA last year and is absolutely wild.

Chris from B is for Build purchased the Lamborghini after it suffered serious engine damage when an aftermarket twin-turbo kit went boom. With the original V10 destroyed, Chris was left with the option of either trying to source a used Huracan engine or, instead, perform an engine swap. As you can see, he chose the latter.

The goal is for the car to eventually pump out up 1,500 hp, but actually getting to that figure is proving to be a bit of a challenge. Work on the custom Huracan continues and it was recently taken out to an airport runway to have some fun and put through its paces.

While initially testing the car in this video, the YouTuber encounters some throttle issues that make it impossible for him to smoothly apply power. He suspects it could be some kind of fueling issue, but with it quickly sorted, the car starts to perform very well during a series of autocross tests and some standing-start drag races.
