2022 Toyota Supra Gets A $300 Bump In Price And A New $63k Carbon Fiber Edition

Toyota has announced pricing for the 2022 Supra range and the cost of buying the car has risen, as has the cost of shipping the car to you.

For 2022, the entry-level 2.0-liter Supra rings in at $43,290, $300 more from its base price in 2021, which was $42,990. That’s not the extent of it, though. For 2022, Toyota has also upped its “Delivery Processing & Handling fee” from $995 to $1,025. So customers who waited until this year to buy a cheap Supra will actually be paying $330 more than they would have last year.

Prices for the 3.0-liter Supra have risen even more. Starting at $51,640 ($52,665 w/ destination) in 2022, that’s $650 more than customers were paying in 2021, which was already $1,000 more than they were paying in 2020.

The GR Supra 3.0 Premium also gets a bit of a price bump for 2022, with an MSRP of $54,790 ($55,815 w/ destination), or $300 more than it cost last year. It gets a red leather-trimmed interior option and models equipped with the Premium Audio package get full-screen Apple Car Play.

Finally, the A91-Carbon Fiber Edition is new to the lineup and prices start at a whopping $63,280 ($64,305 w/ destination). The model is limited to just 600 examples, though, and is the most exclusive Mark V Supra to date. It features handmade carbon fiber accents, including a duckbill spoiler, a front splitter, and rockers. It also gets unique 19-inch wheels and can be finished in matte-gray Phantom, Absolute Zero White, or Nitro Yellow.

Like the other 3.0-liter Supras, it makes 382 hp (387 PS/285 kW) and can get to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.9 seconds. The 2.0-liter model, meanwhile, develops 255 hp (259 PS/190 kW) and can reach highway speeds in just five seconds. Both make more power than they did in 2020 thanks to upgrades introduced last year.

As a nice added touch, every 2022 GR Supra comes with a complimentary one-year membership to the National Auto Sport Association (NASA), which gives them access to perks like discounted admission to NASA events and a free high-performance driving event.

New Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 Priced From £155k In The UK, Nearly £16k More Than 751HP Taycan Turbo S

Two months ago, Mercedes unveiled the AMG EQS 53 at the Munich Motor Show as the first electric vehicle to wear the AMG badge. Now, the German automaker has released pricing for it, and it’s about what you’d expect for a range-topping high-performance EV sedan.

The EQS 53 will start at £154,995 (equal to around $208,000 at current exchange rates) in the UK, or 55% more than the base EQS 450’s starting price of £99,995. It’s also more expensive than the current flagship Porsche Taycan Turbo S that’s rated for 761PS / 751HP and kicks off from £139,280 (about $186,900).

For that money, you get a dual-motor AWD drivetrain producing 649 hp (658 PS / 484 kW) and 701 lb-ft (950 Nm) of instant electric torque. Upgrade to the AMG Performance Package with the Night Edition that pushes the starting price to £163,900 (around $220,000) though, and that same drivetrain produces 751 hp (761 PS / 560 kW) and 752 lb-ft (1020 Nm) of torque.

The range is the same for both, with a WLTP-estimated 358 miles (576 km) on tap from the car’s 107.8 kWh battery.

Standard features on all variants include the 56-inch Hyperscreen, an AR heads-up display, Nappa leather upholstery, a Burmester® surround sound system, a Parking package with Active Parking Assist, and 360° camera, Driving Assistance Package Plus, AMG sound programs, AMG-specific bodywork, and an AMG steering wheel.

Included with the Night Edition are 21-inch AMG alloy wheels, a flat-bottomed sport steering wheel, and sport pedals. Upgrading to the £8,995 AMG Performance Package (which is only available with the Night Edition) gets you carbon-ceramic brakes, AMG Dynamic Plus boost for Race Start, the AMG Sound Experience, the AMG Driver’s Package with increased top speed, AMG TRACK PACE, and AMG carbon-fiber interior trim.

Mugen Gives Tiny Honda S660 Roadster A Big Dose Of Attitude

We’ve been drooling over the Honda S660 ever since the mid-engined kei car launched in Japan in 2015.

Unfortunately, rumors of Honda taking the diminutive sports car global have been greatly exaggerated, leaving us no option but to merely report on the various variants, special editions and custom body kits the automaker has launched over the past five years.

Mind you, the latest S660 project is not an official Honda effort, but that doesn’t make it less interesting. On the other hand, you could say it’s semi-official, given the very close ties between Honda and Mugen Power.

On August 28, the tuner will be releasing styling and suspension upgrades for the facelifted 2020 S660. On sale at Honda Cars and Mugen Parts dealers across Japan, the parts are inspired by the Mugen S660 Concept unveiled at the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon.

For the exterior, the custom parts include a front aero bumper, side skirts, and rear aero bumper, all made of vacuum-formed PPE. Replacing the standard item, the front bumper features a two-tone finish combining the vehicle’s body color with a Dark Gun metallic paint, while it can be had with optional LED fog lights and aero illumination.

At the back, the aero bumper is compatible with both the Mugen sports silencer and the standard muffler. It comes exclusively in the vehicle body color and replaces the standard one. Tying the two custom bumpers together are the large side skirts Mugen Power spoilers. The skirts are attached to the bottom of the body sides and come in a two-tone finish combining the body color with Dark Gun metallic paint.

Rounding out the exterior upgrades are the newly designed ‘FR8’ forged aluminum wheels in a Graphite Gun metallic finish. Interestingly, they come in a staggered setup with 15×5-inch rims on the front axle and 16×6-inch ones at the back, with 165/55 R15 and 195/45 R16 tires respectively.

When it comes to improving the S660’s driving characteristics, Mugen offers a set of Yamaha Performance Dampers, which vibrations and noises over rough surfaces and improve steering stability, maneuverability, and handling.

Bundled up, all these custom parts will set customers back 583,000 yen, or about $5,000. By the end of this year, Mugen Power says it will launch more custom parts for the Honda S660, including carbon front grilles, rear wings, engine hoods, sports silencers, and bucket seats.

Porsche has upgraded its 718 Cayman and Boxster range in the U.S. for the 2021 MY by adding more goodies to their standard features list.

As such, all 718 variants, including the T, S and GTS 4.0 models, will come standard with automatic two-zone climate control, heated front seats and auto-dimming mirrors with rain sensors for this new model year. The 2021 718 Cayman is priced from $59,900, while the 718 Boxster will set you back at least $62,000.

Like last year, all models come standard with a six-speed manual gearbox, but can be fitted optionally with a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic.

Watch: Did The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Just Beat The 992 Carrera S On The Track?

Speaking of the PDK, you can finally get it on the 718 Cayman GT4, 718 Spyder and the 718 GTS 4.0 models for the first time ever. However, be prepared to wait, because six-cylinder 718 variants equipped with the PDK gearbox should reach U.S. dealers early next year.

Still, if you place an order now for a new 2021 model year 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 and Cayman GTS 4.0, know that they should arrive in showrooms before the end of 2020. Pricing for the Cayman GTS 4.0 starts at $86,800, while the Boxster GTS 4.0 has an MSRP of $88,900 – not including $1,350 delivery, processing and handling fee.

Both variants are powered by a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated six-cylinder boxer unit, putting down 394 HP (400 PS) and 309 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque. That’s good enough to get you from zero to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 4.3 seconds, even with the six-speed manual gearbox as standard. Top speed is rated at 182 mph (293 km/h).

Opting for a 718 GTS model means getting the following performance features as standard: Sports Seats Plus, Sport Chrono Package, Sport Exhaust System, PASM Sport Suspension, a mechanical limited-slip differential with Porsche Torque Vectoring, and satin black 20-inch wheels.

Mercedes-Benz EQV Electric Luxury MPV Can Be Yours For $78,300 In Europe

There isn’t a market for all-electric luxury MPVs to speak of, but Mercedes-Benz wants to create one with the EQV.

Unveiled last year, the fully-electric variant of the V-Class has just gone on sale in Germany and the rest of Europe. The second member of the EQ family of Mercedes-Benz after the EQC SUV, the EQV starts from €71,388 ($78,315) in Germany, including VAT.

Is that a lot? It’s hard to say as the market for such vehicles is only just beginning. Obviously, sales numbers will decide that, but until then let’s see what the EQV brings to the table.

For the market launch, the electric van is available in the long-wheelbase version badged EQV 300 (a standard-wheelbase model will launch later on). That means it features a 90 kWh lithium-ion battery which provides it with a maximum range of 418 km (260 miles).

The battery feeds electricity to an electric drive train (eATS) on the front axle integrating the electric motor, fixed transmission, cooling system and power electronics in a compact unit. The motor delivers 150 kW (204 PS / 201 HP) and 362 Nm (267 lb-ft) of torque, enabling a top speed 140 km/h (87 mph) – optionally extendable to 160 km/h (99 mph).

The EQV is equipped with an AC water-cooled on-board charger (OBL) with an output of 11 kW which enables AC charging at home or at public charging stations. Using a fast charging station at a capacity of 110 kW, the EQV can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in around 45 minutes.

By placing the battery in the underbody, the EQV remains as spacious and versatile as the regular V-Class. Thanks to the flexible installation of individual seats, it can offer diverse seating configurations for six, seven or eight passengers. Mercedes-Benz says the EQV offers a permissible total weight of 3,500 kilograms (7,716 lbs).

As with the V-Class and Vito, the EQV is built at the plant in Vitoria in northern Spain.
