Jeep Wrangler 4xe Recalled Due To Bizarre Odometer Failure

The 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid is being recalled due to an issue with the odometer.

The automaker has revealed that some Wrangler 4xe models are equipped with digital instrument cluster software that may prevent the odometer from displaying after it hits 13,342 miles or 21,437 km.

The issue took place between September 8, 2020 and September 13, 2021, when vehicles on the production line received a suspect software service update. Jeep fixed the issue with a new gauge cluster software version that was implemented into vehicle production but a total of 2,903 Wranglers are now involved in the recall and all of them are thought to have the issue.

A recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) states that if the odometer value is not displayed, owners may miss critical vehicle maintenance periods, increasing the likelihood of components failing due to a lack of maintenance, heightening the risk of a crash.

To fix the issue, the automaker will update the software on vehicles with less than 13,342 miles (21,473 km) on the clock while those vehicles that have already passed this figure will be fitted with new gauge clusters. It has also been confirmed that any owner that has had the gauge cluster replaced due to the issue will be reimbursed.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles U.S. will begin notifying owners on or around January 28, 2022.

Various 2021 And 2022 Audi Models Recalled Over Rear-View Camera Issue

A multitude of 2021 and 2022 Audi models are being recalled in the United States due to an issue with the rear-view camera.

Audi says that it discovered an issue during regular quality assurance processes, noting there could be a delay in the rear-view camera response time under certain conditions. The German automaker says that as the rear-view camera picture may not be available when the vehicle is switched into reverse, the issue increases the risk of a crash.

It says that inappropriate software parameter settings are to blame as there are multiple running processes during the start-up of the infotainment system that might hinder each other and cause a delay in the activation of the rear-view camera picture.

A total of 2,857 vehicles are covered in the recall.

Impacted models consist of the 2021 Audi S8, 2022 Audi S5 Sportback, 2022 Audi A4 Sedan, 2021 Audi A8, 2022 Audi e-tron GT, 2022 Audi Q3, 2022 Audi Q5, 2022 Audi RS6 Avant, 2022 Audi A3, 2022 Audi A5 Sportback, 2022 Audi Q5 Sportback, 2022 Audi Q8, 2022 Audi Q8, 2022 Audi RSQ8, 2022 Audi SQ7, 2022 Audi SQ8, and the 2022 Audi A3 Sedan. Production dates of affected vehicles vary between June 5, 2021 and October 16, although we would encourage concerned owners to see all impacted production dates here.

Audi will resolve the issue with a simple update to the infotainment system at no cost to customers. Dealers and customers will be notified on or before December 17, 2021.

A Total Of 19 Mclarens Are Being Recalled In The U.S. Because They May Pull Under Braking

McLaren and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have issued a recall of 19 vehicles as a result of a faulty part in their brake systems.

The recall covers one McLaren 570S, one 600LT, seven GTs, and 10 720Ss manufactured between July 8, 2019, and March 15, 2020. These vehicles may contain a banjo bolt that was improperly manufactured by the supplier, according to recall documents.

The banjo bolts were used for brake pipe assemblies between the flexi-hose and the caliper. These bolts are designed to have holes drilled in them to allow hydraulic fluid to pass from the lines to the caliper. Some may not have had the holes drilled into them, though, meaning that there is no braking power to that corner of the vehicle.

Vehicles affected by this issue will tend to pull in the direction opposite the side of the car with the defect since the side of the car with the bad banjo bolt has less braking power. This could be dangerous, particularly at high speed, and may increase the risk of an accident.

Owners who have the defective brake could be forgiven for not noticing it, though, since McLaren says that its electronic stability control system may work to adjust wheel speed and mitigate the pulling effect of the faulty brake, especially at low speed.

The remedy for the problem is pretty simple: a McLaren technician will just inspect the brakes to find the defective banjo bolt and will replace it with one that works. The automaker, though, has not yet provided a timeline for when it will instigate this recall.
